SOS Children is a charity helping children with absolutely nowhere else to turn. It is a charity which stays long after the TV cameras have left, and has more than fifty years of achievements as a children's charity. Today, nearly a million children worldwide directly benefit from SOS and around 70,000 depend entirely on SOS for a home, family and future. We raise general funds to build new villages and to pay running costs until enough people sponsor a child to cover the village running costs. Then we start again.
SOS Children supports children in the community with "home support" for child-led families (where parents have died of HIV-AIDS), medical care, food security projects, schooling and training, trauma counselling (for children caught in conflict) and other support. We only offer children who live with us for child sponsorship

WOW stands for World Orphan Week – an annual fundraising event during which young people are invited to help orphaned and abandoned children by 'wearing something WOW' for one day and donating £1 to SOS Children, the world's largest orphan charity.
